March 7, 2006
Speaker: Alisia Clark, Secretary of State’s Office
Introduction by: Bill Sharp
Invocator: Win Meek
Greeters: Rotarians whose last names begin with the letter “E”
Program for March 7, 2006
Most people know of the Secretary of State as Ohio’s chief election officer. However, the Secretary of State is also Ohio’s chief entrepreneur. The Secretary of State’s Business Services Division assists businesses throughout all steps of their lifecycle, whether it is incorporation, merger or dissolution.
Results, Not Red Tape is a 20-minute presentation detailing the ways the Ohio Secretary of State's office helps Ohio businesses. The presentation, offered to business and civic organizations around the state, highlights recent changes that have had an effect on Ohio entrepreneurs and taxpayers.
Today, it is easier and faster for entrepreneurs to incorporate in the state of Ohio. Additionally, through many of these changes, the Secretary of State’s office is saving Ohio taxpayers millions of dollars each year.
Results, Not Red Tape tells the story of how these changes were implemented and what this transformation means for Ohioans.

Group Study Exchange (GSE) Program
Our GSE Chairman, Rhonda Stannard, reports that we have host families for the five-person group from Chile coming to Mansfield from May 14th through 19th. They are Carol Brown, Diane Brown, Mike Casto, Win Meek, and Bob Morton.
The Chilean flag at the left is influenced by our flag. The star represents honor and progress. The blue represents sky, the white represents the snow covered Andes, and the red represents the blood spilled in pursuit of independence. They declared their independence from Spain on September 18, 1810. That act, similar to the USA, brought about a war of independence. That war lasted 8 years.
Stay tuned next week for more scintillating Chilean facts. Do Chileans eat chili? Only Rhonda knows for sure.
Also, Rhonda is now looking for enriching, valuable activities for this group during their visit. Thanks to Mike Casto, they will be visiting the Ohio Supreme Court on Wednesday, May 17th. Rhonda asks all Rotarians to make suggestions or recommendations about things to do or places to see/visit (with the caveat that the group needs to remain together whenever possible).
The GSE group will be in attendance at the District Conference in April and host Rotarians and/or others would be able to meet the group in advance of their arrival in Mansfield.

NEXT SOCIAL OUTING
The next Club social event will be held Friday, March 10th at O’Charley’s Restaurant in Ontario (near Meijer’s) from 5 to 7 p.m. Come on out and meet a great group of people! This is purely a “fun time” when you can get to know other Rotarians and their spouses better. Some stay on for dinner…
Have a great week!
