CHANGE OF VENUE

Beginning on January 3rd and lasting for six weeks, the Mansfield Rotary Club will be meeting at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center along Fourth Street (near the new High School and the old Kroger’s Store. The building is the old E-City and is operated by the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center. The first three meetings will be catered by Ed Pickens of Park Avenue Express Cafe and the last three weeks by Rotarian Debra Wood of Derrenberger’s Restaurant. The reason for the change is that Westbrook will be closed during this time.

Membership is Everyone’s Responsibility

We need new members! Did you know that you can invite a prospect to attend 3 meetings without cost to you if that person eventually joins? That’s true. Soon, a complete “how-to” get a new member kit will be emailed to all members. In the meantime, do you know someone from General Motors, Ideal Electric, Warren Rupp, 179th Air Command, Newman Technology, or other similar companies? We don’t have a member from these firms and we darn well should! Please begin to think about “your” new member. We can help…

STRIVE

Mansfield Rotary hosted another group of Mansfield City High School students who are part of the newly formed STRIVE program there. Kudos to Veronica Groff and her STRIVE Committee for undertaking this hugely important program by providing examples of successful people interested in these high school students future well-being. The students pictured are [l to R]: Veto Swarn, Justin Greene, Monique Yelton, Ryan Gerace, Chastity Brown, Ebonie Haney, and Veronica Groff STRIVE Chairman.

Did You Know?
Nearly 100 years after Paul Harris and his colleagues chartered the club that would become Rotary International, Rotarians continue to take pride in their history. In honor of the club that first gathered in Room 711, Rotarians have preserved the room in an extensive re-creation of the office as it existed in 1905. For several years, the club maintained the room as a shrine for visiting Rotarians. In 1989, when the Unity Building was scheduled to be demolished, Rotary's 711 Club carefully dismantled the office, salvaging the original interior, including doors and radiators. In 1993, the Board of Directors of Rotary International set aside a permanent home for the restored Room 711 on the 16th floor of RI World Headquarters in Evanston, Illinois.

Have a great week!
